🩷 Collecting 2400+ Donations
Just about a week ago, Health4Her hosted a 2-day drive in partnership with Aldi, and collected precisely 2,494 units of product to donate! If you’re not familiar, we’ve been running drives for some time now, the goal of which being to create a consistent input of women’s health products to partners at Loudoun Homeless Shelter, Loudoun Hunger Relief, and many more! By asking shoppers at our local Aldi to pick up a pad, soap, etc. on their way out, we were able to run our most effective example of this model yet.
This would not have been possible without our incredible volunteers! With over 15 volunteers signed up for the intended 3-day period of our drive, each stood in groups of three working to talk to, advertise, and reinforce the cause. A box just standing out there can get old, quick, so this was very refreshing, and we are so so appreciative of their help! On another note, this would not have been possible AT ALL without our drive coordinator Ria Singh, so a HUGE thanks to her for all her hard work on this successful initiative <3 The items were just recently donated to Loudoun Homeless Shelter and The Greater DC Diaper Bank.
⭐️ p.s. all of those who volunteered earned anywhere from 1.5 - 6 volunteer hours, signed off by us!
⭐️ Health4Her Official Chapter Openings
It has literally never been easier to:
Contribute to nationwide advocacy for women’s health
Run your own chapter/team, maybe the only one in your locale
Work with a team nation-wide
Health4Her is officially welcoming and encouraging chapter openings across the globe (yes, literally, we don’t care where you are). By checking out our comprehensive chapter guide, which gives almost every detail on how to run a chapter, and completing the attached application form, you can become a chapter president for Health4Her.
What exactly does the role consist of? Pretty much just replicating what we do, to be honest. While it mainly involves running drives (which we tell you ALL about in the chapter guide), you can take all sorts of creative liberties, like running workshops, and advocacy platforms, performing policy work, etc.
🎙️Health4Her x WHAA Workshops
Curious about pressing issues in women’s health, resources you can access, and ways you can contribute to change? Health4Her’s director of reach outs, Ananya, and WHAA (Women’s Health and Awareness, a similar organization based in Texas) have begun hosting and posting women’s health awareness workshops!
Posting currently twice a month, workshops aimed at anyone from middle school girls to others simply looking to learn are hosted live via Zoom AND posted on our joint podcast page!
Consider giving us a listen OR coming to our upcoming workshop next Saturday (07/20) via Zoom. More details on the Instagram shortly :)
📣 Health Accessibility at Loudoun Homeless Shelter
Back in May, some of the Health4Her team visited Loudoun Homeless Shelter to spread awareness of the wide variety of low-cost/free health resources + hung out with some of the kids to keep things engaging.
While building bracelets with some of the kids we also built and left brochures packed with information on local resources, and we plan to continue distributing them later on, to whoever would be the best fit! In the meantime, feel free to check it out, share, and all the other things.
⭐️ New Officer Positions
On a slightly briefer note, we also have new officer positions open! When creating them, we wanted to open up roles that would benefit from the contribution of someone driven, but most importantly, creative. These aren’t roles that have to be filled, but rather ones that we are open to until we find the right fit. Rolling applications are out, so if you’re interested, feel free to check them out.
